I joined Dorothy for a late breakfast at the Muizenberg beachfront this morning. She had eggs, and I had Earl Grey tea and an almond croissant that had just come out of the oven. It was delicious!

I'm a little obsessed with reading the inserts for medicines. All those potential side-effects, even for eye drops! I'm using this on my pharmacist's advice. I have a burst blood vessel in my eye and it is so damn uncomfortable.
~ A year ago today I was watching a movie preview ~
We've had two weeks of unseasonal weather... so warm and sunny that if it weren't for the trees you'd never think it is the middle of winter. From a walk in the Constantia Greenbelt this afternoon.
~ A year ago today I was exploring the Casa Labia ~
I am fascinated by Serruria, a genus of Protea family, commonly known as spiderheads. I've seen them on the mountain before, but this one I spotted in Kirstenbosch. It is so weird.
~ A year ago today I finished a knitting project ~
There's not much going on in my little garden at the moment, other than some spaces that need to be filled. The rest of it is looking healthy. I'm looking forward to some flowers in springtime.
~ A year ago today it was raining ~
... so little time! I'm reading up a storm at the moment. Just finished Malcolm Gladwell's What the Dog Saw which was excellent. The rest should keep me busy well into August.
~ A year ago today I was polishing my shoes ~
I was woken last night by the buzz of mosquitoes... they were eating me alive. Mozzies in July? WTF?! I had to go searching for the Peaceful Sleep. I don't like using this stuff, but I dislike mosquitoes even more.
~ A year ago today there was a pretty dawn sky ~
A homeless man who spent a lot of time hanging around the building next door to mine passed away on the weekend. I've been thinking about him a lot and how very difficult it must be for those on the margins of society do get through winter. It was bitterly cold again today, and I am feeling so grateful for my cosy home, warm clothing and nourishing food. I'm so extremely fortunate... I get to turn up the heater when I'm feeling cold...
~ A year ago today I was walking with Dom and his dogs ~
While out for a walk on the beach at Milnerton this afternoon I watched the clouds open and the rain pour over the city bowl. We've had a whole weekend of passing showers. I've been grateful for the sunshine between them.
