The heatwave continues... it was an unpleasant 35C today. I escaped for a while to the air-conditioned cool of the movie theatre. Michele and I finally got around to seeing Sherlock Holmes at my scruffy local independent, The Labia Theatre. It was a fun movie.
Ohhh! The Labia is my favourite movie theatre!
ReplyDeleteI spent soooo many hours there when I was a student, heading home from campus after lectures, and treating myself to an unusual film.
Up to about 5 years ago or so, they didn't use to show the normal circuit movies - instead, they had foreign language films, documentaries, alternative movies, art house movies, things you wouldn't be able to see at Ster Kinekor or Nu Metro. I LOVED it.
I remember going there as a student too, many *cough*twenty-odd*cough* years ago. First film I saw there was The Rocky Horror Picture Show... the audience dressed in costume and doing all the moves and saying the dialogue - it was such fun!
