We had a frustrating work day today as our Head Office was without electricity until 3.30pm. Makes one realize just how much we rely on power coming out of the plugs in our walls.

We ate cake in the office today to celebrate my colleague's birthday. Yum. Last cake for me for a while though... it is time for me to get back on track with my health. So I'm cutting out sugar and refined carbs for the month of August.

This afternoon I went to the funeral of a friend's father. Sad occasion of course, but I'm glad I went. Rituals are important and they give me plenty to think about.

Vent

A homeless man who spent a lot of time hanging around the building next door to mine passed away on the weekend. I've been thinking about him a lot and how very difficult it must be for those on the margins of society do get through winter. It was bitterly cold again today, and I am feeling so grateful for my cosy home, warm clothing and nourishing food. I'm so extremely fortunate... I get to turn up the heater when I'm feeling cold...

I started this blog a year ago today. My intention was to post a photo a day for a full year, so I have been successful in that. It is pretty time consuming and I'm really not sure why I do it, or what purposed it serves. But it amuses me... so I think I am going to carry on ;-)
