I left the house this morning (first time since Wednesday). We went down to the False Bay coast... swam at Clovelly and Simon's Town, looked at Kalk Bay Harbour, visited a friend in St. James. It was a perfect warm, still summer's day.

Walked from the Upper Cableway Station to Maclear's Beacon this morning - the highest spot on Table Mountain. Not much to see there, just a pile of rocks and a fallen down trig beacon. But great views in all directions. And it was fabulous to be outside and in the sunshine.

It poured with rain today. For a short while in the afternoon, the sun came out and a rainbow appeared. Fifteen minutes later it was raining again!

I took a drive along the N2 this morning, heading to Swellendam for the weekend. It was good to leave the bad weather behind in Cape Town - the Overberg was bright and sunny, green and lovely.

A went to a friend's for breakfast this morning. He has a lovely garden and a super view across the city to the eastern side of Table Mountain.

While I wasn't expecting the perfect weather we had last week I was surprised at how cool and windy the beach was this morning. It didn't look like very good swimming weather at all but we went in anyway and it was actually pretty nice.

Afternoon in the Garden

Friends and I made our way to Kirstenbosch today for a late afternoon picnic. As always it was lovely to be there. We could hear the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra concert in the background.
